Apart’Hotel Citadines Geneve-Ferney Voltaire
The Ascott Group is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this
year. The Ascott Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CapitaLand
Limited are arguably the largest global serviced residence
operator with close to 25,000 serviced accommodations including
7,000 under development in key cities throughout Asia Pacific,
Europe and the Gulf Region. Executive Traveller visited
the Group’s Citadines Apart’Hotel Residence
in Ferney Voltaire to evaluate the Residence and see what
was on offer for our expatriate community. The group comprises
three brands - Ascott, Somerset and Citadines – in
more than 67 cities in over 22 countries.
To
celebrate Ascott’s 25th Anniversary, Mr Lim
Chin Beng, Chairman of The Ascott Group Limited, said:
“We are commemorating in a meaningful way with
over 25 charity initiatives worldwide to give back
to the communities where we operate”. The Group
raised funds to build a school dormitory for hill
tribe children in Thailand and will support a French
charity which sponsors heart surgery for children.
In Singapore, staff donated S$25,000 to provide for
the educational and developmental needs of children
under Chaoyang School, Pertapis Children’s Home,
and TOUCH Young Arrows, a service of TOUCH Community
Services. Through these efforts, The Ascott Group
Limited hoped to create a brighter future for the
children of these beneficiaries. |

Location:
Our selected Residence is in Ferney Voltaire
which borders France and Switzerland, Geneva to be precise.
Apart from its large expatriate community working with various
international organisations including the United Nations’
office, Geneva is also the Swiss cultural capital and home
to Lake Geneva, Europe’s largest Herbarium and the
botanical gardens.
 |
There is only one Citadines Residence in Ferney Voltaire
and quite conveniently the Apart’ Hotel is only
10 minutes’ drive away from Geneva airport and
if you use the French sector exit, you can probably
walk it. Ferney Voltaire is a pretty cosmopolitan
town of about 8500 inhabitants with shops, theatres,
museums, cinemas, public services, places of worship
and excellent public transportation. The picturesque
and idyllic Ferney Voltaire is home to Voltaire’s
Chateau where the human rights writer entertained
distinguished guests. The Apart' hotel is also a short
drive away from the Jura mountains which houses numerous
ski resorts and hiking trails
|
and only a 1-hour drive to the ski resorts
of the Haute-Savoie region. Geneva has 30 museums so if you
are a culture obsessed, you will definitely enjoy your visit.
There is also a music academy,
and shopping enthusiasts can find thousands of boutiques
nestled in the narrow streets of the old city. In the evenings,
you can attend a nightly concert by the Suisse Romande Symphonic
Orchestra at the Victoria Hall, or catch a movie at a cinema
within a 10 minute walk of the Apart' hotel. Nature lovers
can stroll through the botanic gardens, or take leisurely
walks around Lake Leman.
The
Apartments
The very “French” style apartments are
available from 3pm and you have to vacate by 11am.
They range from studios to full size apartments sleeping
up to eight persons providing you with a very practical
multi-tasking base. By very “French” style,
it means that they are equipped with sofa-beds, (canapé
lits) with instructions for guests to open up when
they are ready to sleep. They also have separate bathrooms
and toilets with the toilets strategically located
at the entrance of the room and the bathroom closer
to the bedroom. |
 |
It is very common to most
French accommodation to position the toilet separate from
the bathroom, next to the kitchen. Practically, it does
not give guest the full ensuite effect whereas if you have
visitors, it is ideal. Above all, you have the opportunity
of an after-work lounge and the ability to prepare a quick
meal, surf the net or to simply relax in your own space.
Also, the daily “pull in – pull out” of
the sofa bed can be tiring; however, there is enough room
to leave your bed out during your stay unless you are expecting
company so if you always have to rush out in the morning,
simply leave it out or opt for a one-bed apartment.
