March 2008 - Vol 3- Issue 1

Dear Readers,

Gatwick Airport Has The 'Friday Feeling'
… and metal detectors are 'courting' underwired bras!
Business travel has definitely developed and moved to London City Airport because the last time I flew out of Gatwick Airport, South Terminal on a Friday, it was virtually empty. In fact passenger traffic was so fluid that the security metal detectors were beeping at anything that got them excited. I was stopped and searched because of my underwired bra! I hate to sound sexist but could it be that the machines were designed by men?
On a more serious note, a journey out of London City the following weekend, explained why Gatwick was so fluid. I could barely find a seat in the waiting lounge and neither could I tell the difference between a pub and a shop. 2007 was a good year for London City Airport with passenger numbers reaching nearly three million. This May will see the beginning of new British Airways services to Barcelona and Warsaw. Construction to build additional aircraft parking bays is well under way and due to be completed in spring. In addition British Airways recently announced a new business class only service to New York, due to commence in 2009.
